日本の任天堂ファンは2025年4月24日を心待ちにしていた。この日、My Nintendo Storeを通じて公式Switch 2の抽選予約当選者を発表する予定だった。しかし、アクセスが集中しサイトがダウン、メンテナンスを余儀なくされた。さらに悪いことに、任天堂は偽の当選通知メールによるフィッシング詐欺に注意喚起せざるを得なかった。

日本のXユーザーは偽メールのスクリーンショットを共有し、複数の詐欺パターンがあることを指摘。「おめでとうございます！Switch 2抽選に当選しました」などの巧妙な件名で、一見本物のように見えるものもあった。
これらのフィッシング詐欺は、絵文字だらけの明らかな偽物から、微妙な欠陥のある巧妙なものまで様々だ。スペルミスを含む任天堂ドメイン、不審な非日本URL、LINEアプリの即時クリックや怪しいリンク経由の支払いを急かす内容などが確認されている。
任天堂サポートは公式に警告：「4月24日現在、当選通知メールはまだ配信されていません。任天堂を名乗る既存の通知はすべて詐欺です」

一方、米国任天堂サイトは発売日配送の方針を更新し、登録済み顧客に対し6月5日の発売日配送を保証できないと警告。
招待状は本体発売後に届く可能性もあるが、発送日は購入時に確定する。任天堂は現在、発売日の入手可能性を高めるためサードパーティ小売店の利用を推奨。にもかかわらず、Switch 2の予約は一夜で完売したと報じられている。
4月24日の予約混乱と任天堂の警告は、次世代機の発売時における極端な供給不足を示唆している。
