The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT Is Finally Confirmed

by Zoe May 23,2025

AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, a follow-up to the successful RX 9070 XT released in March. However, specifics about this mid-range graphics card are still under wraps.

The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, ideal for targeting 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's expected to consume significantly less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W.

With half the Compute Units and power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is poised to be less powerful but potentially more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose pricing or a release date for this new GPU.

The Budget Battles Have Begun

While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's likely to be competitively priced, similar to the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These competitors have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and both are priced around $250-$300. AMD is expected to target the same market segment.

When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT stays within this price range, it will stand out with its 16GB of VRAM, surpassing the 8GB offered by Nvidia's RTX 5060 and the 12GB of Intel's Arc B580.

Although a lab test is needed to assess its actual performance, the RX 9060 XT's larger frame buffer could provide a longer lifespan as games become increasingly demanding on video memory. While the exact cost of the RX 9060 XT remains uncertain, it's shaping up to be a compelling choice for budget-conscious gamers. Keep an eye on this GPU as it may redefine the budget segment.
