With the news that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was set to close its doors, I've no doubt there were plenty of disappointed fans among you. But fortunately, you won't need to put aside your camp! Nintendo has made good on their promise to make Pocket Camp available offline, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete has just released today!
As you might have guessed, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is essentially the original Pocket Camp, only offline. You won't need to use any in-app purchases or have a consistent online connection, and you can even still meet up with other campers in the new Whisper Pass location to swap stories and the brand-new Camper Cards.
Best of all, you won't be starting from scratch as even though Pocket Camp Complete is technically a standalone release, you'll still be able to transfer over your saves. You'll also have new ways to earn Leaf Tokens, and other fresh features previously only part of the Pocket Camp Club Monthly Subscription.
While the ending of Pocket Camp does have it's own issues, I'd say that the release of Complete is probably as satisfactory a resolution as you can have. An offline, feature-complete (and additional features) version of the original is more than most other titles tend to get.
But at the same time, there's always the perennial debate about what this says about the longevity of online-only games and the fact that it's only by the goodwill of the developer that we can still play. Food for thought, huh?
In any case, the world of mobile phones is ever-changing. Want to stay ahead of the curve? Well then, why not check in on our own new feature, Ahead of the Game (see what I did there?) and our latest topic of discussion with Mistland Saga.
