Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

News regarding the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji," has reportedly surfaced via a Steam leak. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the first game in the franchise set in Japan, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the launch date to March 20, 2025.

A now-deleted Steam update revealed details about "Claws of Awaji," including a new region to explore, a new weapon type, expanded skill sets, fresh gear, and enhanced abilities. The leak also suggests over 10 hours of additional gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the Claws of Awaji DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Launch and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

The Steam leak coincided with Ubisoft's announcement of another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first postponed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing and refinement.

This latest delay adds to the uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future. Rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition are circulating, following a period of mixed reception for several major Ubisoft titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws, which fell short of financial projections.
