Dino Crisis Revived for PC Platforms

by Daniel Feb 18,2025

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror titles, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, bringing them to PC gamers DRM-free. Both PlayStation originals are now available on GOG's platform as part of their Preservation Program, ensuring the original content remains untouched.

Released in 1999 and 2000 respectively, these Capcom titles haven't seen a new entry since Dino Crisis 3 in 2003. Despite fan demand for a remake or sequel, and the 2022 release of the dinosaur-themed Exoprimal, Capcom appears to have moved on. Further fueling speculation of the franchise's demise, Dino Crisis creator Shinji Mikami cited the success of Monster Hunter as a factor in the lack of a reboot.

PlayGOG's release is a boon for fans, as these PC ports were previously difficult to acquire and run smoothly on modern systems. GOG highlights the enhanced experience, stating that Regina's famous line, "You're extinct!", no longer applies to the games themselves.

GOG's Dino Crisis 2 Enhancements:

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • English and Japanese localizations.
  • Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (windowed mode, V-Sync, gamma correction, integer scaling, anti-aliasing, etc.).

Furthermore, GOG launched its Dreamlist, a community voting system allowing users to suggest games for revival or addition to the platform. This initiative aims to gauge community interest and potentially bring more classic titles to GOG.
