A Decade in the Making

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a marathon, not a sprint. Numerous delays, spanning almost a decade, have punctuated its journey. Initially conceived in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined as BioWare focused on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further complicating matters, the initial design clashed with the company's shift towards live-service games, leading to a complete development halt.

Revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," the game was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
