Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action title, will notably omit the signature poisonous swamps prevalent in From Software's previous games. This revelation comes directly from Yasuhiro Kitao, the project's product manager, during a recent press interview.
While a swamp-like area was featured in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarifies it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president, a known enthusiast of swamp environments in games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

Interestingly, a two-player mode might still be added. Currently, only single-player and three-player modes are confirmed, with initial exclusion due to perceived content balancing difficulties. From Software is actively considering the feasibility of a two-player option, but a final decision remains pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, across PC and current- and last-generation consoles.
