A Daily Grind: Messmer, New Weapons, Zero Hits

Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign, chickensandwich420 devised a self-imposed challenge: consistently defeating Messmer on NG+7, using a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless, no-hit victory.

This ambitious undertaking began on December 16, 2024, and is documented on his YouTube channel. Initially, he planned to tackle various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his available time.

Messmer, the formidable antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is notorious for his difficulty. Many players report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal equipment. chickensandwich420's challenge is, therefore, exceptionally demanding.

However, the challenge has a built-in deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, chickensandwich420 will switch to other games. This sets a limit of approximately 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays.
