Epic Snags Free Game for January 16

Escape Academy, a highly-rated escape-room style puzzle game, is the Epic Games Store's free game offering from January 16th to 23rd, 2025. This marks the fourth free game offered by the EGS in 2025 and, based on its OpenCritic score of 80 and 88% recommendation rate, is currently the highest-rated free game offered so far this year.

Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy challenges players to train as "escape room masters" within the game's academy setting. Originally released in July 2022, it's available for PC and consoles. This week-long giveaway is particularly timely for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as the game is leaving the service on January 15th. While previously offered as a free mystery game on EGS on January 1st, 2024, this marks its first full-week free availability.

The game boasts positive player reviews across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores, and features both solo and well-regarded online/split-screen multiplayer modes, making it a top choice for cooperative puzzle game enthusiasts.
