Final Fantasy XVI's director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans to avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC release.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the upcoming PC release, emphasizing a desire for respectful modding practices. While acknowledging the potential for creative and humorous mods, he clearly stated a preference against anything "offensive or inappropriate." He declined to specify examples, stating that doing so might inadvertently encourage unwanted creations.
Yoshi-P's experience with past Final Fantasy modding communities likely informs this request. While many mods enhance gameplay or add cosmetic elements (like the popular Half-Life costume mod for FFXV), some content is undeniably NSFW or offensive. Although Yoshi-P didn't detail specific examples, mods featuring explicit content or inappropriate character alterations clearly fall under his stated concerns. One example might be mods offering "high-quality nude body mesh replacements" with enhanced textures.
With Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasting features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling technologies, Yoshi-P aims to maintain a positive and respectful player experience.
