Game Freak Unveils Leaked Pokémon Multiplayer Game

by George Mar 27,2025

After months of speculation and leaks, we've finally been introduced to Pokémon Champions, an exciting new multiplayer battle-focused game developed through a collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works—a joint venture involving The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the developers behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Champions is designed to immerse players in the series' beloved "core-style battles," enabling them to compete online against each other. The game's trailer revealed the inclusion of both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, hinting at a comprehensive experience that spans various types and generations of Pokémon battles.

PlayMoreover, *Pokémon Champions* will integrate with Pokémon Home, offering players the ability to transfer Pokémon from other games into this new battle arena. This feature not only enhances the game's connectivity but also gives fans a new purpose for their Pokémon collections from previous generations.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, Pokémon Champions has not yet received a release date. However, it will be available in Latin American Spanish at launch, along with other languages commonly found in Pokémon games.

The game, which appears to be the same as the previously leaked Pokémon Synapse, was part of the notorious "Freak Leak" that exposed a wealth of internal Game Freak information last year, including details on unreleased projects, meeting notes, and Pokémon designs. While Pokémon Synapse was initially rumored to be a multiplayer title similar to Splatoon, it seems the comparison might have been slightly off the mark.
