HBO has revealed the three young actors who will take on the central roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in the upcoming television series adaptation.
The HBO Original Harry Potter series has cast Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, marking significant roles for these newcomers.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod said in a joint statement: “Following an extensive casting search led by Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are thrilled to present our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
"The remarkable talent of these three distinctive actors is a joy to witness, and we eagerly await the moment fans see their onscreen magic come to life. We extend our sincere gratitude to the tens of thousands of young performers who auditioned. Discovering the incredible depth of emerging young talent has been a genuine privilege.”
Back in April, Warner Bros. and HBO confirmed the first six cast members who will portray iconic Hogwarts professors in the new Harry Potter series.
This initial casting announcement featured John Lithgow (Conclave, Dexter), who had previously revealed he would be playing Albus Dumbledore, alongside other actors whose involvement had been widely rumored or anticipated.

Two casting choices likely to delight fans are Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) as Rubeus Hagrid and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Black Mirror) as Severus Snape. The announced faculty is completed by Janet McTeer (Me Before You, The Menu) as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon (The Favourite, Present Laughter) as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as Argus Filch.
Professors Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape are not only legendary figures within the Wizarding World but also iconic across broader pop culture. Each actor faces the challenge of stepping into these beloved roles, a point John Lithgow acknowledged when confirming his casting as Hogwarts' headmaster earlier this year.
“I received the call while at the Sundance Film Festival for another project, and it was a difficult decision because this role will likely define the final chapter of my career,” he told ScreenRant in February.
“Nevertheless, I am tremendously excited. A fantastic team is reimagining Harry Potter, which made the choice so challenging. I'll be around 87 by the time we wrap filming, but I have happily accepted.”
