Leaked 2005 James Bond audition tapes surface online, showcasing Henry Cavill's impressive take on 007. The footage, appearing on the Ron South YouTube channel, also includes auditions from Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr.
Games Radar reports that Cavill's audition has garnered significant attention, with many, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, praising his performance. Campbell reportedly considered Cavill "tremendous" and his preferred choice, but ultimately, other executives favored Daniel Craig.
Cavill later fulfilled his spy aspirations in the film Argylle, starring alongside a high-profile cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara. Despite the star-studded lineup, Argylle received poor critical reception, scoring a mere 4/10 in IGN's review.
Cavill's career continues to thrive, with notable roles as Superman for DC, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and numerous other projects.
