Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a strong weapon is crucial for any successful build. While starting with basic equipment, players unlock opportunities to acquire more effective weapons tailored to their preferred playstyles. This game blends roguelike and extraction elements, resulting in a unique approach to weapon acquisition.

Acquiring New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

Exploration is key. New gear, including weapons, is discovered within Overgrowths. Focus on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map for targeted weapon hunting.

Blades are melee weapons with varied movesets and special abilities. Rails are ranged weapons, each possessing unique functionalities. Both weapon types come in different rarities, with gold being the highest and most powerful. Rarity directly correlates with weapon stats, as is typical in loot-driven games.

To save weapons for later runs, use the Cache function instead of Equip. Manage your loadout before each run at the Outpost.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond finding weapons during gameplay, players can purchase starting weapons from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchant inventories are limited but refresh periodically. Check back frequently for new items.

Weapon Upgrades

Weapon upgrades are available at the Outpost merchants, but require unlocking the upgrade feature by increasing merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a rare resource found through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations strategically due to their scarcity.

Death has consequences. Equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icons) upon death, eventually breaking with repeated failures.
