inZOI and PUBG will soon have AI-enhanced Co-Playable Characters that can dynamically play with you

by Savannah Mar 14,2025

CES 2025 delivered some major mobile gaming news, with one of the biggest announcements being Krafton's unveiling of the AI-powered "Co-Playable Character" (CPC) for PUBG on January 8th. This isn't your average NPC; it's a Non-Playable Character infused with generative AI, and it's coming to both PUBG and inZOI.

inZOI's implementation of this "Smart Zoi" is particularly intriguing, promising characters with distinct personalities and emotional depth, creating more realistic interactions within the simulation. For PUBG, the "PUBG Ally" will dynamically adapt its strategies to enhance gameplay, offering a potentially exciting (or perhaps slightly unsettling) new dimension to the experience.

Developed in partnership with NVIDIA ACE, this technology enables real-time conversations and scenarios that adapt to the game's current state. Kangwook Lee, Head of Krafton's Deep Learning Division, stated, *"Our collaboration with NVIDIA is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in gaming, and we plan to work closely together to push the boundaries of what is possible."*
