Warhorse Studios confirms that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), their upcoming medieval action-RPG, will launch completely DRM-free. This follows online speculation and misinformation suggesting otherwise.

Responding to fan inquiries on Twitch, Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, explicitly stated that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM, including Denuvo. He attributed the confusion to inaccurate information circulating online, urging players to cease inquiries about DRM's inclusion. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that any unconfirmed reports regarding DRM in KCD2 are untrue.

"KCD 2 will not have Denuvo, or any DRM system at all," Stolz-Zwilling clarified. "We never confirmed it. There were discussions, some misalignment, and misinformation, but ultimately, there will be no Denuvo."

The absence of DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance impacts and negative experiences associated with anti-piracy measures like Denuvo. While Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously attributed negative perceptions to misinformation and confirmation bias, the decision to forgo DRM in KCD2 reflects Warhorse Studios' commitment to a smooth player experience.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is scheduled for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Set in medieval Bohemia, the game follows Henry, a blacksmith apprentice whose village faces devastation. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
