Konami Celebrates Silent Hill 2 Remake Milestone of 2 Million Sales

Konami is celebrating the remarkable success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has surpassed 2 million sales.

Developed by Bloober Team, the Silent Hill 2 remake launched for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 8, 2024 (an Xbox Series X and S version has not yet been announced). Remarkably, it sold one million copies within just a few days, potentially making it the fastest-selling title in the series' history, though Konami has not officially confirmed this record.

“Since its release, Silent Hill 2 has earned widespread critical praise, including multiple perfect review scores and several award wins and nominations, reaffirming its status as a timeless masterpiece in the horror genre,” Konami stated.

IGN’s Silent Hill 2 remake review awarded it an 8/10, describing it as: “A superb way to experience – or rediscover – one of survival horror's most chilling and unforgettable settings.”

The strong commercial performance of the Silent Hill 2 remake is likely to reinforce Konami's broader strategy for the franchise, which has seen renewed investment in recent years. Projects like Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall remain in development, and the company may now consider remaking other classic entries.
