In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, stepping into the boots of Goro Majima, Captain of the Goro Pirates, involves more than just navigating the high seas. A key part of your adventure is recruiting a diverse crew, including the likes of Kraken-Chan and Surfer Jay. Here's a detailed guide on how to achieve that.
Surfer Jay is a valuable recruit you'll find in Honolulu. With his superior base stats compared to earlier crew members, he's a fantastic addition to your team. However, recruiting him involves a bit more legwork than usual. You can approach this task in any order, but it's advisable to start your journey in Madlantis to secure the item necessary for his recruitment.
Once you've docked at Madlantis, head towards the tent opposite the Madlantis Golf Range, known for its engaging mini-games. Inside, you'll find a UFO Catcher Game, which is your target. You're looking for a blue plush called "Kraken-Chan," which Surfer Jay is fond of. However, Kraken-Chan might not always be available as a prize. If you don't see it, approach the attendant under the tent and request a prize switch-out.
Winning Kraken-Chan can be challenging, much like real-life claw machines. Ensure you have enough cash before attempting, as it might take several tries. The trick is to maneuver the claw to nudge the plush towards the drop slot. Once you've successfully acquired Kraken-Chan, return to your ship, the Goromaru, and sail back to Honolulu to find Surfer Jay.
Upon arriving in Honolulu, make your way to the Tropical Coco in the Anaconda Shopping Center, either by cab, street surfer, or on foot. Use your mini-map to locate Surfer Jay, who will be marked with a pirate symbol featuring a bandana and sword. You'll find him sitting in a garage next to his surfboard. Engage in conversation with Jay, and he'll share his personal struggles regarding a recent heartbreak.
During your conversation, it becomes clear that Kraken-Chan is crucial for resolving Jay's relationship issues, paving the way for his recruitment into the Goro Pirates. At the right moment, offer him the plush. This gesture will secure his loyalty, and he'll join your crew, displaying his base stats. While Surfer Jay doesn't offer unique perks as a First Mate or Boarding Squad Leader, his recruitment is a must for those aiming for full completion in *Pirate Yakuza*.
And that's how you successfully find Kraken-Chan and recruit Surfer Jay in *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
*Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii* is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, offering players a rich, immersive experience in the world of pirate yakuza.
