Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Sweetens Sales with Impressive Landmark

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence of Interest in the Classic Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, showcasing a strong comeback for this action-packed game. Despite initial technical hiccups and some controversy, the game's sales figures demonstrate significant player demand.

Developed initially by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for titles like No More Heroes), Lollipop Chainsaw's remaster was handled by Dragami Games. This new version boasts enhanced visuals and quality-of-life improvements, revitalizing the original hack-and-slash experience where players wield a chainsaw as a cheerleader battling zombies.

The recent sales milestone, announced via a tweet from Dragami Games, covers all current and last-generation consoles, as well as PC. This achievement comes several months after the September 2024 launch.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence

The game follows Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who discovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is invaded by the undead. Players engage in visceral combat using Juliet's chainsaw, mirroring the stylish action of games like Bayonetta.

While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold over a million copies, RePOP's success is notable. The original game benefited from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, contributing to its memorable story and appeal.

The future of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remains uncertain. While there's no confirmation of DLC or a sequel, the sales figures suggest a positive trend for remasters of cult-classic games. This success is further underscored by the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing more retro action-horror to modern platforms.
