Daredevil's highly anticipated next season is on the horizon, and the creative team is already brainstorming future possibilities, including a potential Defenders reunion.
In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, hinted at the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—the Defenders.
While nothing is confirmed, Winderbaum stated, "It's certainly exciting to play in that sandbox... We don't have unlimited resources like a comic book. We're dealing with actors, schedules, and the massive scale of production needed for a cinematic universe, especially on television."
He continued, "But considering all those factors, it's a creatively thrilling prospect we're actively exploring."
Daredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Netflix Daredevil storyline. Netflix previously hosted a smaller-scale Marvel universe with shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest that Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a launching point to reintroduce these characters within Disney's MCU framework on Disney+. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season already demonstrates the successful transition of a Netflix character.
Ultimately, the possibilities will become clearer after Daredevil: Born Again's premiere on March 4th. Only then can we fully speculate on how the series might integrate into the broader MCU narrative.
