The upcoming major update for Marvel Rivals has sparked some confusion regarding a potential rank reset. While many games reset ranks at the start of each season, offering a fresh start, Marvel Rivals initially planned a mid-season reset for Season 1 on February 21, 2025, coinciding with the release of The Thing and Human Torch. This decision, however, met with significant player backlash.
Responding to player feedback, NetEase Games reversed course. A blog post clarified that the mid-season update will *not* include a rank reset. Players will retain their current ranks and scores. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 competitive matches and meet specific conditions by the season's end. These rewards include a new Gold rank costume and various Crests of Honor with unique designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks.
This decision is a positive sign, demonstrating NetEase's responsiveness to player concerns. It allows high-ranking players to continue competing at the top level and showcases the developer's commitment to community feedback.

Beyond the addition of The Thing and Human Torch, the Season 1 mid-season update will include significant character adjustments. While specific buffs and nerfs haven't been detailed, the update is sure to impact the game's meta and spark community discussion.
In summary, there will be no mid-season rank reset in Marvel Rivals Season 1. The update focuses on new heroes and balance changes, offering new rewards for continued competitive play.
