NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh with regular updates. The development team plans to release updates approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes each quarter. This ensures players consistently find new content upon their return.
Game director Guangyun Chen revealed in an interview that each season's update is divided into two parts: one new hero in the first half, and another in the second.
This approach maintains player and audience engagement. Beyond new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also feature updates including new maps, storylines, and objectives. Previously announced characters include Blade (currently unavailable) and Ultron (revealed through leaks), with the Fantastic Four's full team also recently confirmed.
According to GameLook, a Chinese publication, the game generated approximately $100 million globally, with a substantial portion originating from the Chinese market. This marks a significant entry into the gaming industry for Marvel, a longstanding powerhouse in film.
Marvel Rivals successfully filled a void in the hero-shooter genre, following the less-than-stellar reception of Square Enix's Avengers. NetEase delivered a high-quality heroic shooter boasting a compelling roster of characters, receiving positive reviews at launch.
