The Meta Quest Pro is officially discontinued. Meta's website confirms its unavailability, following previous announcements of its impending end-of-life. Limited stock may remain at select retailers, but availability is dwindling.
The high price point ($1499.99) significantly hampered the Quest Pro's adoption, unlike Meta's more affordable Quest line ($299.99-$499.99). This lack of consumer and corporate uptake led to its discontinuation.
Meta recommends the Meta Quest 3 as a superior alternative, boasting a "ultimate mixed reality experience" at a considerably lower price.
Meta Quest 3: A Worthy Successor
The Quest 3 offers comparable features to the Quest Pro, but at $499, making it far more accessible. It shares the focus on mixed reality, allowing users to overlay virtual displays onto the real world. Technically, the Quest 3 surpasses the Quest Pro in several key areas: it's lighter, boasts higher resolution and refresh rate, promising a more comfortable experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers are compatible with the Quest 3.
Budget-conscious users can also consider the Meta Quest 3S, offering slightly reduced specifications at a lower starting price of $299.99.
