This guide explores the Paralyze effect in Pokémon TCG Pocket, detailing its mechanics, cures, and strategic applications. The guide is part of a larger Pokémon TCG Pocket Guide.
Pokémon TCG Pocket faithfully recreates the Paralyzed status effect from the physical card game. This guide provides a complete overview.
The Paralyzed status prevents the opponent's Active Pokémon from attacking or retreating for one turn. This effect automatically wears off before your next turn begins.
Paralysis and Sleep are similar in their effect on the opponent's Pokémon; however, recovery differs. Paralysis resolves automatically, while Sleep requires a coin flip or specific counter-strategies.
The core mechanic remains consistent between the physical and digital versions. However, while the physical game offers cards to counter Paralysis, Pokémon TCG Pocket currently lacks direct counters.
In the Genetic Apex expansion, Pincurchin, Elektross, and Articuno are the only Pokémon capable of inflicting Paralysis. Each relies on a coin flip, introducing an element of chance.
Four methods exist to cure Paralysis:
Paralysis alone isn't a highly effective strategy. Combining it with Sleep effects, such as using Articuno & Frosmoth, which utilize Articuno, Frosmoth, and Wigglytuff ex attacks, creates a more potent deck.
