Pikachu Manhole Cover: A Unique Addition to the Nintendo Museum
The upcoming Nintendo Museum in Kyoto's Uji city will feature a charming surprise: a Pikachu-themed Poké Lid, one of many adorning streets across Japan. These artistic manhole covers, known as Pokéfuta, showcase various Pokémon characters, often reflecting the local area's unique features.

The museum's Poké Lid depicts Pikachu and a Pokéball emerging from a classic Game Boy, a nostalgic design celebrating both Nintendo's history and Pokémon's enduring popularity.

The Poké Lid initiative, part of Japan's Pokémon Local Acts campaign, aims to revitalize communities and boost tourism. Many cities feature unique Poké Lids, such as Fukuoka's Alolan Dugtrio and Ojiya City's Magikarp designs. These covers also serve as PokéStops in Pokémon GO, adding another layer of engagement for players.
The Poké Lid phenomenon has even inspired its own intriguing backstory, hinting at the possibility of Diglett's involvement in creating the holes!

The campaign, which started in 2018 with Eevee-themed covers, has expanded to include over 250 designs nationwide. The Nintendo Museum's Pikachu Poké Lid is a testament to this creative and engaging project.

Opening October 2nd, the Nintendo Museum celebrates the company's rich history. Visitors are encouraged to seek out the museum's unique Pikachu Poké Lid during their visit.
