POE2 Ritual Guide: Unlock Rewards with Passives, Tributes, and Favors

Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE leagues, detailing how to initiate them, their mechanics, the unique rewards, and the Pinnacle boss encounter.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types and mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools).

Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn within a designated circle. Remaining within this zone is crucial; leaving it prematurely ends the event and forfeits rewards. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

'An Audience With The King,' a unique currency item obtained from Ritual Favors, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness, home to the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss. This boss shares mechanics with its Act 1 counterpart. Defeating him yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, enhances Ritual events. It offers nodes to reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop chances. The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists awards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Notable Ritual Passive Nodes:

Notable Passive Node Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion Ritual Altar skills deal 25% increased Damage. Deferring Favours requires 50% less Tribute, appearing 50% sooner. N/A
From The Mists Rituals contain 2 extra enemy packs. N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Maps always contain 4 Ritual Altars. N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp, increasing Tribute earned. Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents Monster waves spawn 25% faster, but Favours have a 50% increased chance to contain an Omen. N/A
He Approaches Revived monsters have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare. Rituals have a 50% chance to contain "An Audience With The King". Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Allows an extra Favour re-roll at 25% reduced Tribute cost. N/A

Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' initially, then 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches.'

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favour options, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omen Currencies: Powerful and Coveted

Omen items, powerful and highly sought-after, enhance other Currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy. Their effects are consumed upon use. Consider trading them for valuable currencies if unsure about immediate use.
