As we wrap up January and the year ahead unfolds, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have something exciting to celebrate. The long-awaited trading feature has finally launched today, coinciding with the release of the major new expansion, Space-Time Smackdown!
So, how does trading work? It's straightforward: you can trade cards with friends, mimicking the experience of real-life card exchanges. However, there are a few restrictions to keep in mind. Only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) are eligible for trading, and you'll need specific resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make a trade. Despite these limitations, this feature represents a significant enhancement to the game.
Alongside the trading feature, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion brings legendary Pokémon Diagla and Palkia into TCG Pocket. It also introduces the Sinnoh region starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, along with many other exciting additions!
Unfortunately, the new trading feature hasn't been universally welcomed, with some players expressing a chilly response. While I believe the inclusion of trading is a positive move and well-implemented, the numerous restrictions seem to be a significant point of contention.
In my opinion, Pokémon TCG Pocket might have been better served by either omitting trading entirely or making it as unrestricted as possible, eliminating the need for resources or limitations on tradable cards. Thankfully, there are indications that the developers are monitoring the feedback, hinting that adjustments to the feature could be on the horizon.
