After nearly a decade in development, Lost Soul Aside is finally poised for launch. Initially the brainchild of solo developer Yang Bing, it's evolved into a major Sony-published title under their "China Hero Project." Bing is now the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based Ultizero Games.
With its May 30th release date on PlayStation 5 and PC fast approaching, IGN sat down with Yang Bing to discuss the game's lengthy journey. Years of development went into this single-player action game, transforming from a solo creator's vision to a trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play, generating significant buzz along the way. Many have described Lost Soul Aside as a thrilling blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, a comparison evident even in Bing's initial viral 2016 reveal video.
With the assistance of a translator, IGN explored the origins of Lost Soul Aside, its inspirations, the challenges faced by the team throughout development, and more.
