Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, featuring four premium accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These additions expand upon Sony's existing range of color options, following the success of previous releases like Volcanic Red and Galactic Purple.
The collection offers a sophisticated dark aesthetic, appealing to gamers who prefer a more subdued look. Each accessory is priced as follows:
Noteworthy is the price point of the Pulse Elite headset, a significant increase from its predecessor. However, both the headset and earbuds include a felt gray carrying case.
Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, at 10 AM ET, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. The full launch is scheduled for February 20th, 2025.
$199 at Amazon, $200 at Best Buy, $200 at GameStop, $199 at Walmart, $200 at Target
This release coincides with the excitement surrounding CES 2025 and follows rumors of a significant PlayStation VR2 upgrade, further fueling consumer interest in Sony's latest offerings. The Midnight Black Collection provides a compelling option for gamers seeking to enhance their PS5 setup with a sleek, dark aesthetic. The collection also joins a growing lineup of themed DualSense controllers, including recent releases for God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and the recently announced limited-edition Helldivers 2 controller.
