Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed prior internal consideration of a Smash TV remake and hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.
While specifics remain undisclosed, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent Helldivers 2 update, including the "Omens of Tyranny" expansion (shadow-dropped at the 2024 Game Awards), has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. This update introduced the highly anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, delighting players. With a rumored Killzone crossover also on the horizon, Helldivers 2 is poised for continued success in 2025.
