Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.
The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League amidst poor reception and significant financial losses estimated by Warner Bros. at approximately $200 million. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. Games studio, also experienced layoffs, shedding 99 jobs in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, server outages, and even a story spoiler revealed through a glitch. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay criticism led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
