Switch 2 Sells 3.5M Units in 4 Days, Sets Nintendo Record

by Savannah Dec 03,2025

Nintendo has revealed that the Switch 2 has shattered company records as its fastest-selling console worldwide, moving over 3.5 million units within just four days of launch.

The gaming giant announced this milestone on Twitter/X, stating: "#NintendoSwitch2 has surpassed 3.5 million global sales in its first 96 hours, making it Nintendo's most successful hardware launch to date."

This remarkable achievement stems partly from Nintendo's improved inventory management - a contrast to previous hardware shortages that affected both Nintendo and competitors. The performance aligns with statements from Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser, who guaranteed sufficient Switch 2 stock would meet U.S. consumer demand.

By comparison, the original Switch sold 2.74 million units during its entire first month.

The announcement follows recent reports from The Game Business confirming the Switch 2 as the fastest-selling Nintendo console in UK history, overtaking the Nintendo 3DS's previous record.

In our ongoing Switch 2 review, we noted: "This successor delivers expected evolutionary improvements - modernizing outdated features, refining numerous design elements, and introducing an ambitious (if not perfectly polished) new control scheme that shows promise but still needs refinement."
