In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, trapping monsters is crucial for gathering all the necessary parts for armor forging. To master this skill, you'll need Trap Tools. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain and use them effectively.
While *Monster Hunter Wilds* might not give you a tutorial on trapping monsters or acquiring Trap Tools, the process will be familiar if you've played previous games in the series.
To get Trap Tools, head to the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Engage in conversation with him and browse through his inventory until you find the Trap Tools, which are priced at 200 Zenny each. It's a smart move to stock up on several, especially if you're aiming to farm specific monsters or capture every monster in the game.
Keep in mind that the only way to acquire Trap Tools is through purchase at the Base Camp; they can't be found out in the wild like other resources.
Once you've secured your Trap Tools, it's time to learn how to use them effectively. You can combine a Trap Tool with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to craft a Shock Trap.
Both types of traps are effective, but be aware that certain monsters have resistances. For example, Shock Traps won't affect Rey Dau, the lightning dragon, so you'll need to opt for a Pitfall Trap instead.
Remember, you can only carry one Trap item at a time, so timing is key. Use your traps when the monster is weakened to maximize your chances of success.
That's everything you need to know about getting and using Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and insights on the game, make sure to check out The Escapist.
