Wukong Sun will make its way to Nintendo Switch in a few days

The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on the success of popular titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend goes beyond mere inspiration; it appears to directly copy elements from Game Science's acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot summary strongly resemble a direct imitation.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. Given the apparent plagiarism, Game Science could pursue legal action for copyright infringement, potentially leading to the game's removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world filled with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, stunning locations, and legendary enemies.”

In contrast, Black Myth: Wukong is a highly successful action RPG drawing from Chinese mythology. Its unexpected popularity, including topping Steam charts, is remarkable for a game from a small Chinese studio. Black Myth: Wukong boasts exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat (incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre).

The combat system and progression are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides while still demanding strategic thinking. Visually, the battles are breathtaking, showcasing fluid animations. The game's greatest strengths lie in its setting and visual design, creating a captivating fairy tale world with stunning character design. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards.
