Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the 2025 Xbox game showcase season. Following the successful January 2023 and 2024 events, this year's showcase is scheduled for 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This confirms earlier rumors circulating on January 9th.

Spotlight on Confirmed Titles:

The showcase will feature a trio of highly anticipated games. South of Midnight, a stylish action-adventure from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), originally announced in June 2023, is expected to finally receive a release date. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release, will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title. Finally, id Software's Doom: The Dark Ages, revealed in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024, is rumored for a mid-2025 launch.

Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:

While these three titles are confirmed, previous Developer Directs (lasting over 40 minutes each) have showcased multiple games. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the 2025 event to follow suit, potentially unveiling additional surprises.
