Gameplay Basics:

Tongits uses a standard 52-card deck (no jokers). Card values: Ace (1 point), J/Q/K (10 points each), others at face value.

The Objective:

Form sets and runs to minimize the points of unmatched cards in your hand at the end of the round.

• Run: Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., ♥4, ♥5, ♥6). Aces are low.
• Set: Three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., ♥7, ♣7, ♦7). A card can only be in one combination.

Dealing & Gameplay:

The dealer is randomly chosen in the first round and then rotates to the winner. Each player receives 13 (dealer) or 12 cards. The remaining cards form the stock pile.

Each turn involves:

1. Drawing: Take a card from the stock or the discard pile (only if you can meld it).
2. Melding: Expose valid sets or runs on the table. At least one meld is required to open the hand. A set of four can be melded face down for a bonus.
3. Laying Off (Sapaw): Add cards to existing melds (yours or others'). This prevents the other player from drawing on their next turn.
4. Discarding: Discard one card face up onto the discard pile.
