Nintendo Switch 2発表後、新型Joy-Conのマウス機能についての憶測が広がりました。先月の公式発表で、コントローラーの「マウスモード」が明らかになり、ユーザーはアナログスティックで左右クリックを行いながら、Joy-Conを机の上などで滑らせて操作できるとされました。このシステムは、両手にJoy-Conを一つずつ持つ方法や、マウスモードと通常のコントロールを組み合わせるデュアルモード操作にも対応しています。

任天堂は次のように説明しています：「Joy-Con 2の装着面を下にして机などに置くと、画面上にカーソルが現れます。最適な結果を得るには、コントローラーを平らな面に置き、滑らかに動かしてください。」
同社はさらに述べています：「マウス操作では、スティックを傾けることでメニューをナビゲートでき、ホーム画面および対応ソフトウェアの両方で使用できます。」従来のコントロールに戻るには、Joy-Con 2を再び水平に持つだけです。
