Nintendo Switch 2 Adds Joy-Con Mouse Navigation

by Matthew Dec 09,2025

Nintendo confirms players can navigate the Switch 2's Home screen using Joy-Con mouse controls.

Following the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, speculation grew about the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Last month's official confirmation revealed the controllers' "mouse mode," allowing users to slide them across surfaces while using analog sticks for left/right clicks. The system even supports dual-mode operation - using one Joy-Con in each hand or combining mouse mode with standard controls.

New details have emerged via Nintendo Today's app and X/Twitter showcasing Home menu navigation with Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

Nintendo explains: "Placing the Joy-Con 2 attachment-side down on a surface activates an on-screen cursor. For best results, position the controller on a flat surface and glide it smoothly."

The company added: "Mouse controls allow menu navigation through stick tilting, compatible with both the Home screen and supported software." Returning to traditional controls simply requires holding the Joy-Con 2 horizontally again.

While full game compatibility remains uncertain, Nintendo demonstrated the feature working with Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, along with sports title Drag x Drive.
