The 10 Best LEGO Games of All Time

by Aiden Mar 17,2025

LEGO's foray into video games began nearly 31 years ago with LEGO Fun to Build on the SEGA Pico. Since then, games built around these colorful Danish bricks and their iconic minifigures have blossomed into a genre unto themselves, largely thanks to Traveller's Tales' addictive blend of action-platforming and the countless pop-culture properties they've LEGO-fied.

Narrowing down the best was a challenge, but we've compiled our Top 10 LEGO games of all time (so far!). Don't forget to check out the recently released LEGO Fortnite!

10. LEGO Island

No best LEGO games list is complete without the original 1997 PC adventure, LEGO Island. While its graphics and mechanics might seem rudimentary by today's standards, its charm and nostalgic appeal remain undeniable. An escaped convict threatens to destroy LEGO Island, brick by brick, and it's your mission to stop him. Its diverse character classes and surprisingly open world for its time create a fun and engaging experience. It might be a bit tricky to find now, but a trip to LEGO Island is well worth the effort – just watch out for the Brickster!

9. LEGO The Lord of the Rings

LEGO The Lord of the Rings cleverly uses audio clips from the films, creating a uniquely silly yet respectful experience. Witnessing Boromir's death scene punctuated by banana-related chaos is surprisingly effective. The game also includes Easter eggs (like the Assassin's Creed hay bale jump), a large roster featuring book characters like Tom Bombadil, and the classic LEGO puzzle-solving and action. It’s a delightful LEGO adventure that successfully captures the spirit of the source material.

8. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

Surprisingly well-executed, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures adapts the Indiana Jones trilogy into a family-friendly LEGO experience. It playfully reimagines some of the more mature scenes while retaining the spirit of the films. The gameplay is a significant improvement over earlier LEGO Star Wars titles, with a greater emphasis on puzzles and exploration. Local co-op adds to the fun, making this a timeless classic.

7. LEGO DC Super-Villains

LEGO DC Super-Villains takes a unique approach by letting players control the villains. This showcases the adaptability of the LEGO formula, making even a rogues' gallery endearing and kid-friendly. The inclusion of a customizable character adds a creative element, appealing to players who enjoy building and designing their own LEGO creations.

6. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes introduced open-world gameplay to the LEGO franchise, featuring a sprawling Gotham City. While later games refined the open-world formula, the charm of LEGO Gotham remains undeniable. A significant improvement over its predecessor, it boasts a vast roster of DC characters, including lesser-known villains like Killer Moth and Captain Boomerang. Exploration, collectibles, and the signature LEGO humor make this a standout title.
