SoMoGa Inc. has unveiled a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced visuals, a streamlined user interface, and controller support.
Originally released in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized by Working Designs), Vay enjoyed a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa.
This Revamped Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. Notable features include adjustable difficulty settings and an auto-save function. Bluetooth controller support adds to the gameplay flexibility. Character progression involves acquiring new equipment, learning spells, and utilizing an AI system for autonomous combat.
The game's narrative unfolds in a distant galaxy, scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war. A malfunctioning, destructive machine crashes onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, triggering widespread devastation. The player embarks on a quest to rescue their kidnapped wife, a journey that intertwines personal tragedy with the fate of the world, unfolding on their wedding day.
Vay retains its JRPG core, featuring experience point and gold acquisition through random encounters. The experience is enhanced by nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options. This updated version seamlessly blends nostalgic charm with modern enhancements.
Vay revamped is available now on the Google Play Store for $5.99.
