In a remarkable tale of perseverance, a dedicated Call of Duty player known as b00lin spent 763 days fighting to overturn a ban issued by Activision. After logging over 36 hours in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta in December 2023, b00lin was unexpectedly banned. Initially, they thought it might be a mistake due to beta testing errors, but Activision upheld the ban despite b00lin's efforts to resolve the issue. Determined to clear their name, b00lin took their case to court, documenting the entire journey in a compelling blog post.
Activision staunchly refused to provide any evidence of the alleged cheating, citing security concerns. b00lin only requested what they considered "harmless" information, such as the name of the software being flagged. The case escalated to a legal battle where it was revealed that Activision's lawyers had no concrete proof of b00lin's wrongdoing. It became evident that the company prioritizes anti-cheat secrecy to an extreme degree.
Ultimately, the court ruled in favor of b00lin, ordering Activision to cover their legal fees and lift the ban. This decision was finally executed in early 2025, allowing b00lin to restore their reputation on Steam and continue enjoying the game they love.
