AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing games like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many others across various genres.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, including Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event in Pittsburgh, initiated with a speedrun of Pikmin (Switch version) by Ray0ken, significantly contributed to cancer research. The Prevent Cancer Foundation, the beneficiary, focuses on early detection, prevention, research funding, and public awareness programs. This collaboration between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised collectively through previous GDQ events.

A standout moment was Chuckles825's 18-minute Crazy Taxi speedrun, accompanied by a live band performing cover versions of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This unique run generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a nail-biting finish with two runners, Eddie and Andy, separated by only a second. The next GDQ event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will benefit Doctors Without Borders and take place in Minneapolis starting July 6th.
