Ubisoft Mainz has offered a deeper look into Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, via a recently released trailer. Previous announcements highlighted Lazio and Albion as explorable regions; however, the new preview suggests Lazio serves as an introductory area before the game shifts to Albion as the main setting.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts peacefully, but a catastrophic event forces players to venture into uncharted territories—Britain (Albion). Albion presents significant challenges: a harsh climate, resistant native tribes, and its remoteness from Rome create complex governance issues.
Players govern Albion, facing these hurdles through diplomacy as well as military might. Respecting local traditions is key to establishing peaceful relations. A notable gameplay element is the customizable ship design, allowing players to prioritize speed with oarsmen or offensive capabilities with archery turrets.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
