Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, launching this March, adds another star to its cast: Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his role as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece. He'll be voicing a pivotal character, Gennojo, in both Japanese and English.

Gennojo, a key figure in Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting, will be a crucial ally to the protagonist. Ubisoft describes him as a captivating and complex character, a charming rogue with a conflicted past and a strong moral compass, particularly when it comes to protecting the vulnerable. His methods, however, are often unorthodox, employing a blend of wit, deception, and daring. Driven by a desire to dismantle corruption, he's willing to risk everything to achieve his goals.
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance remains undisclosed, his significance to the game's narrative is clear. Mackenyu himself revealed that Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League" and can essentially be recruited as a companion throughout the player's adventure.
