Atelier Resleriana's End-of-Service Announcement: A Year-Long Journey Concludes

Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, effective March 28th, just a year after its global launch. In-app purchases will cease on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the final shutdown.

The developers cited an inability to maintain their initially established quality standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing improvements and events, they determined that continued operation wasn't feasible. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but further purchases are unavailable.

This closure isn't entirely unexpected. The highly competitive gacha market presents significant challenges for new titles, and Atelier Resleriana, despite its promising concepts, faced difficulties. Criticism centered around gacha rates and banner mechanics, hindering player progression. The core alchemy system, a hallmark of the Atelier series, fell short of expectations, failing to deliver the anticipated creative depth. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the engagement to compete effectively with established rivals.

The community's requests for an offline version, while numerous, seem unlikely to materialize. For those who enjoyed Atelier Resleriana's turn-based RPG elements, the remaining months offer a final opportunity to experience the game.
