Fans of Civilization VII have reason to be excited as the game's developers at Firaxis Games have hinted at the potential return of beloved leader Gandhi, possibly as a downloadable content (DLC). During an enlightening interview with IGN on February 13, 2025, Civ 7 lead designer Ed Beach discussed the absence of certain leaders and civilizations in the initial release, sparking hope among fans.
In the IGN interview, Beach reassured fans, stating, "So I would say we haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before." He specifically addressed the absence of Great Britain and India, explaining the challenging choices they faced. "There're just too many popular choices and we always want to have a few fresh ones that sound really new and exciting to people," Beach noted. He emphasized that while some civilizations and leaders are omitted initially, they are always considering the broader picture of future expansions.
The strategy of leaving room for future content is not new to the Civilization series. With the extensive array of DLCs released for Civilization VI, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi and other fan-favorite leaders could make their way into Civilization VII through similar means. While the exact timeline for Gandhi's return remains uncertain, the possibility alone keeps the community buzzing with anticipation.
As fans eagerly await more details, the prospect of seeing Gandhi and other iconic leaders return to Civilization VII adds an exciting layer of anticipation to the game's future updates and expansions.
