FBC: Firebreak Hits 1M Players, More Work Ahead

by Isaac Oct 04,2025

Remedy's free-to-play spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, has surpassed one million players. Available through Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus subscriptions, the studio celebrated this "major milestone" while acknowledging ongoing development challenges.

"FBC: Firebreak reached over 1 million players as of last night. This incredible achievement means the world to our team at Remedy," the developers shared in a social media update.

"While we recognize there's still significant work ahead, we're more inspired than ever. Exciting new features are in development for Firebreak players—stay tuned for announcements."

The team recently addressed early-game experience issues, noting Firebreak's introductory section suffered from unclear objectives, underpowered starter weapons, and complex systems without proper tutorials.

"Despite narrative pacing fluctuations, combat against surreal creatures in Remedy's bureaucratic nightmare makes for addictive gameplay," noted IGN's Firebreak review-in-progress. "Further testing will determine how this cooperative chaos simulator holds up long-term."

Post-launch support includes two free missions arriving in 2025, with additional content planned for 2026. All gameplay updates remain free, with monetization limited to optional cosmetics—no paywalls or timed exclusives.

Remedy currently balances multiple projects alongside Firebreak, including Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, cementing their status as a premier narrative-action developer.
