Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as Playable Character

by Aaliyah Apr 12,2025

In a surprising twist for fans of both sports and fighting games, Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers alongside Lionel Messi, is set to join the roster of playable characters in the upcoming game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. This marks one of the most unusual guest character appearances in recent fighting game history.

Ronaldo, now 40 years old and currently playing for Al Nassr FC in the Saudi Pro League, will be part of the game's launch lineup. Al Nassr FC, based in Riyadh, is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Interestingly, SNK Corporation, the developer and publisher of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, is now almost entirely owned by the Saudi crown prince's foundation.

The trailer released by SNK showcases Ronaldo reimagined in the game's distinctive comic-inspired art style. Ronaldo's character utilizes football-inspired attacks, including a command move called "Headed Clearance" and a slide tackle. Fans will also recognize his trademark 'Siuuu' celebration, although Ronaldo's voice in the game is provided by voice actor Juan Felipe Sierra, not Ronaldo himself.

Here’s the official description of Ronaldo’s character:

One of the top football players in the world. He uses his time off to visit South Town to hone his new football skills. The various techniques he has developed playing football make him an unstoppable force, even to seasoned fighters.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to launch on April 24, 2025, promising a dynamic art style, a mix of new and familiar fighters, and modernized battle systems. This unique crossover between sports and gaming is sure to attract a diverse audience eager to see how Ronaldo fares in the world of fighting games.
