Get ready for the highly anticipated sequel, *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach*, coming exclusively to PS5. If you opt for one of the premium editions, you can dive into the game as early as June 24. The standard edition, available in both physical and digital formats, will be released on June 26. Developed by the innovative Kojima Productions, this sequel follows up on the groundbreaking original from 2019. You have three editions to choose from: the standard edition, a digital deluxe edition, and a collector’s edition packed with exclusive items, available only through PS Direct. Let's explore the pricing, availability, and what each edition offers.
The standard edition of *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is your go-to if you're looking for a straightforward gaming experience without the frills. Priced at $69.99, it's available at multiple retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, PS Direct, and the PS Store. This edition includes the game itself and the digital preorder bonuses, detailed below. If you prefer a physical copy and don’t need the extras, this is the perfect choice for you.
For those who want a bit more, the digital deluxe edition, priced at $79.99 and available exclusively through the PS Store, offers a digital copy of the game and a host of extras. You’ll get 48-hour early access starting June 24, along with early unlocks for the Machine Gun (MP Bullets) LV1, and gold versions of the Battle Skeleton, Boost Skeleton, and Bokka Skeleton at LV1, LV2, and LV3. Additionally, you'll receive exclusive patches: the Quokka Patch, Chiral Feline Patch, and Why Me? Patch.
The collector’s edition, exclusive to the PlayStation Direct store and priced at $229.99, is the ultimate package for dedicated fans. Along with a full game digital download and 48-hour early access, you'll receive a collector’s box, a 15” Magellan Man statue, a 3” Dollman figurine, art cards, and a letter from Hideo Kojima. In-game items include the same early unlocks and patches as the digital deluxe edition.
Preordering any edition of *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* will net you some fantastic in-game items: a Quokka Hologram and silver versions of the Battle Skeleton, Boost Skeleton, and Bokka Skeleton at LV1, LV2, and LV3.
If you haven't experienced the original *Death Stranding* or want to refresh your memory before diving into the sequel, now's a great time. The Director’s Cut is currently on sale for PC on Steam at Green Man Gaming for $16, and at Steam for $19.99. For PS5 players, the PS4 (non-Director’s Cut) version is available with PS Plus Extra.
*Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is the direct sequel to the 2019 original, set 11 months after the birth of the UCA. The world has been connected, deliveries automated, and a new faction is emerging. The game is packed with the signature surreal elements that Hideo Kojima is known for, including a character reminiscent of Solid Snake. The official description from the PlayStation Store reads:
“Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles, and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.”
