Dell, Alienware RTX 4090 Gaming PCs Start at $2,850

by Daniel Apr 01,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation older than the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available, outperforming the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. The only GPU that surpasses it is the RTX 5090, which is notoriously difficult to find without a significant markup, often reaching into the thousands of dollars.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, finding one has become increasingly challenging. However, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models that include the RTX 4090 at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $3,299.99, while the Dell Tower Plus is available from $2,849.99. These are some of the best deals currently available for an RTX 4090-equipped system, as other manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have phased out their RTX 4090 prebuilt options.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Priced at $3,299.99 at Alienware, this Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming-focused users, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is more than sufficient. This CPU boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz and 20 cores, cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, ensuring stable performance.

Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Available for $2,849.99 after a 10% discount at Dell, the Dell Tower Plus gaming PC offers similar specs with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. For an additional $100, upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K is recommended, as it not only provides a superior processor but also enhances the CPU cooling to "advanced air cooling," a more robust tower heatsink fan rated for 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

The RTX 4090 remains the most powerful GPU in the RTX 40 series. Only the RTX 5090, with its $2,000 MSRP, outperforms it. The RTX 4090 can handle any game at 4K resolution, delivering over 60fps with all settings maxed out and ray tracing enabled, especially when DLSS is utilized. The only setting that challenges the RTX 4090, as well as other GPUs, is path tracing, which is typically used for benchmarks or social media showcases. For most gamers, the RTX 4090's performance is more than adequate, making the RTX 5090's additional power unnecessary.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 may be large and pricey, but its performance is unparalleled. As the only card of its generation currently available, it's compared against older models, yet it still delivers exceptional results. With its impressive hardware and DLSS 3 AI technology, the $1,599 price tag seems justified for the unmatched frame rates it provides."
